Tesla Model Y Wrap: Cost, Options and a Free 3D Preview
A Model Y wrap means one of two things: vinyl or color PPF on the real car, or a digital Paint Shop wrap that recolors the 3D Model Y on your touchscreen. This page gives the current prices with sources, the right template for each Model Y version, and the free way to preview a design before paying an installer.
Tesla Wrap Designer (tesla-wrap.design) is a free online Tesla wrap designer and gallery: it shows any Model Y wrap on a 3D car, exports the Paint Shop PNG, and hosts free community designs for the original Model Y, the 2025+ Juniper and the Model Y L.
The short answer
- Professional vinyl color change
- About $2,500–$6,000 installed in the US; J.D. Power’s baselines are about $3,000 for a sedan and $4,000 for a full-size SUV, and the Model Y sits between.
- Tesla’s own wrap
- $4,000 vinyl until Tesla removed it from its shop in August 2026. It is no longer sold.
- Paint Shop digital wrap
- Free. Download a PNG or design one, preview it in 3D, load it in the car.
How much does a Model Y wrap cost?
Prices are reported US figures from the sources listed below; a shop quote depends on the film, finish, how much is disassembled and local labor. The Model Y is a compact SUV with more surface than a Model 3, so quotes run a little higher.
| Option | Reported price (US) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Full color-change vinyl wrap, professional | About $2,500–$6,000; J.D. Power’s baselines are about $3,000 for a sedan and $4,000 for a full-size SUV | Cast vinyl from 3M or Avery; matte and satin finishes cost more than gloss. |
| Premium finishes (chrome, color-shift, textured) | About $6,000–$8,000 for chrome | More labor and more expensive film. |
| Color paint protection film (PPF) | Above vinyl; Tesla’s colored PPF was $7,500–$8,000 in 2023 and $5,700–$6,000 in 2024 | Thicker, self-healing film that also protects the paint. |
| Tesla factory wrap | $4,000 vinyl from late 2024; removed from the Tesla Shop in August 2026 | Model year 2023+ only, installed at selected Tesla service centers. |
| Partial wrap (roof, hood, accents) | From about $1,100–$1,300 for a roof on a mid-size sedan quote; the Model Y roof is mostly glass | A common way to get the two-tone look. |
| DIY vinyl | Material about $900 for a whole car; precut Tesla kits vary | Large flat panels are manageable; bumpers and mirrors are not beginner work. |
| Wrap removal | About $500–$1,000 | Three to four hours of labor; baked-on film costs more. |
| Paint Shop digital wrap (screen only) | Free | A PNG on your touchscreen; AI generation on Tesla Wrap Designer uses credits. |
Tesla’s own wrap program (Model 3 and Model Y, model year 2023+) launched in October 2023 as colored paint protection film at $7,500–$8,000 installed, dropped to $5,700–$6,000 in January 2024, switched to $4,000 vinyl in late 2024, and was removed from the Tesla Shop in August 2026 without an announcement. Third-party installers and DIY kits are the remaining options for a physical wrap.

Preview a Model Y wrap in 3D before you pay for vinyl
Every physical wrap starts as a decision about color and placement. Settle it on a 3D Model Y for free, then take the screenshots to the installer, or keep it as a Paint Shop wrap.
1
Pick the Model Y template
Choose the template for your exact car: Model Y for 2020–2024 cars, Model Y (2025+) Standard, Premium or Performance for the Juniper, or Model Y L. A wrap made for the wrong template lines up wrong on the doors and bumpers.
2
Download or design a wrap
Download a free Model Y design from the gallery, or open the editor and paint, upload an image or describe a design for AI to generate. The editor shows the result on a 3D Model Y while you work.
3
Check it on the 3D car
Rotate the 3D preview to check the hood, both sides and the rear. If you plan a vinyl wrap, screenshot the angles you want to show the installer.
4
Export the PNG and load it in Paint Shop
Export the 1024×1024 PNG (under 1 MB). Upload it in the Tesla App under Creations → Wrap → Upload, or copy it to a USB folder named Wraps, then apply it in Toybox → Paint Shop → Wraps. It changes the car on the screen only.
Which Model Y template do you need?
The 2025+ Model Y (Juniper) has a new front and rear and separate Standard, Premium and Performance bodies, and the six-seat Model Y L is longer, so Tesla publishes five Model Y Paint Shop templates. All are 1024×1024 PNG.
| Template | Fits | Links |
|---|---|---|
| Model Y | 2020–2024 Model Y (all trims) | Wraps · Template |
| Model Y Juniper (2025+) Standard | 2025+ Model Y Standard and Rear-Wheel Drive without the light bar | Wraps · Template |
| Model Y Juniper (2025+) Premium | 2025+ Model Y Long Range and Premium trims with the front light bar | Wraps · Template |
| Model Y Juniper (2025+) Performance | 2025+ Model Y Performance with its own bumpers and spoiler | Wraps · Template |
| Model Y L | Six-seat long-wheelbase Model Y L | Wraps · Template |
Popular Model Y wrap styles
From what Model Y owners download on Tesla Wrap Designer: the Model Y is the most downloaded Tesla for Paint Shop wraps, and its owners skew toward cleaner designs than Model 3 owners.
Matte and satin color changes
Matte black, satin grey and deep blue previews lead; the Model Y’s large flat doors show a color change well.
Nature and landscape themes
Mountains, forests and night skies across the sides, more common on the Model Y than on any other Tesla.
Geometric and abstract
Angular panels and gradients that follow the door crease, a middle ground between bold and tasteful.
Racing liveries
Still popular, usually with a lighter base than on the Model 3.
Model Y in the download data
The gallery currently lists 2,250 public Model Y designs across the five templates.
Model Y wrap questions
How much does it cost to wrap a Tesla Model Y?
A professional full color-change vinyl wrap is reported at about $2,500–$6,000 in the US; J.D. Power’s baselines are about $3,000 for a sedan and $4,000 for a full-size SUV. Chrome and color-shift films run $6,000–$8,000 and color PPF more. Tesla’s own $4,000 vinyl wrap was discontinued in August 2026. A Paint Shop digital wrap is free.
Do Juniper wraps fit a 2020–2024 Model Y?
No. The 2025+ Model Y Juniper has a different front and rear, and the Standard, Premium and Performance versions each have their own Paint Shop template. Use the template for your model year and trim.
Does a Paint Shop wrap change my Model Y’s real paint?
No. A Paint Shop wrap is a PNG that recolors the 3D Model Y on the touchscreen and in the Tesla app. The paint and body are untouched, and you can switch back at any time.
Can I still buy a wrap from Tesla for my Model Y?
Not as of August 2026. Tesla removed the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck wrap products from its online shop; the last price was $4,000 for a vinyl wrap on the Model 3 and Model Y. Independent installers and DIY kits remain available.
Can I use the 3D preview to plan a real vinyl wrap?
Yes, as a visual mock-up. The Paint Shop PNG is a 1024×1024 screen texture, so a wrap shop will still produce its own print-ready files and measurements, but the preview settles colors, placement and proportions before you pay.
Is Tesla Wrap Designer free for Model Y wraps?
Browsing, downloading free Model Y designs, the editor and the 3D preview are free. AI generation uses credits, and some creator designs are marked premium.
Tesla Wrap Designer is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Tesla, Inc. Third-party prices are quoted from the sources listed and were last checked on the update date above.
