The Model Y is the most popular Tesla for Paint Shop wraps. In our public gallery, Model Y designs account for about two thirds of all downloads, and the single most downloaded template is the 2025+ Model Y Premium. But "Model Y" now covers five different templates, and a wrap made for one will not line up on another.
This guide shows you which template fits your car, what works well on each, and how to get a wrap onto the screen in a few minutes.
The five Model Y templates
| Your car | Template | Gallery |
|---|---|---|
| Model Y, 2020–2024 model years | Model Y | Model Y wraps |
| 2025+ Model Y Standard | Model Y (2025+) Standard | 2025+ Standard wraps |
| 2025+ Model Y Premium (Long Range) | Model Y (2025+) Premium | 2025+ Premium wraps |
| 2025+ Model Y Performance | Model Y (2025+) Performance | 2025+ Performance wraps |
| Model Y L (six-seat, long wheelbase) | Model Y L | Model Y L wraps |
All five are 1024×1024 PNG files. The difference is where each body panel sits on the flat template. The 2025+ redesign (often called Juniper) changed the front, rear and lighting, so its panels moved; the Performance and Model Y L bodies differ again.
Not sure which one you have?
- Check the model year. The 10th character of your VIN is the model year:
R= 2024,S= 2025,T= 2026. The VIN is in the Tesla app and on the car screen under Controls → Software. - Check the trim. The same Software screen shows your trim. Long Range cars sold as Premium use the Premium template, and the Performance has its own.
- Check in 3D. Open the editor, pick a template and rotate the 3D car. If it doesn't look like your car, switch templates before you design.
What looks good on a Model Y
The Model Y's tall doors and smooth rear hatch give you big, readable surfaces. In our gallery, the styles owners download most for the Model Y are:
- Police and emergency liveries — black-and-white panels with stripes and decals. Browse police Model Y wraps.
- Racing liveries — stripes, numbers and sponsor-style panels. Browse racing Model Y wraps.
- Two-tone black and white — clean and readable on the small in-car render. See black and white Model Y wraps.
- Red accents — red is the third most downloaded color across the whole gallery. See red Model Y wraps.
Design tip: Paint Shop shows the car small. Big shapes and high contrast read better than fine detail, and text should be large. Check the side view in the 3D preview before you export.
Download a ready-made Model Y wrap
- Open the gallery for your template from the table above.
- Open a design and confirm the vehicle name matches your car.
- Download the PNG.
Design your own
Open the Model Y editor (switch templates in the vehicle menu). Paint colors, add images and text on the flat template and watch them appear on the 3D car. You can also describe a design and let AI generate it. Export the PNG when you're done.
Put it on your Model Y
- Tesla App (version 4.59.0 or later): Creations → Wrap → Upload, then pick the PNG on your phone. Step-by-step: upload a wrap from the Tesla app.
- USB: create a folder named
Wrapsat the root of an exFAT or FAT32 drive and copy the PNG into it. - In the car, open Toybox → Paint Shop → Wraps.
Wrap not showing up? Run it through the PNG checker or work through the Paint Shop troubleshooting checklist.
