Paint Shop basics

What is Tesla Paint Shop?

Paint Shop is part of Toybox on the Tesla touchscreen. It changes how your car looks in the on-screen 3D model, with a color or a custom wrap image. It does not change the real paint.

Which Teslas have wrap templates?

Tesla publishes templates for Cybertruck, Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X, with separate templates for newer trims such as Model Y (2025+) and Model 3 (2024+).

What file does Paint Shop need?

A PNG made on the template for your exact model, 512 to 1024 px and under 1 MB. Keep the file name to 30 characters or fewer, using only letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores.

How do I get a wrap onto my car?

Upload the PNG in the Tesla app (Creations → Wrap → Upload), or copy it to a folder named Wraps on a USB drive. Then apply it in Toybox → Paint Shop.

Using Tesla Wrap Designer

Is Tesla Wrap Designer free?

The editor, the PNG checker and free gallery downloads cost nothing. AI generation uses credits, and some creator designs are paid.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to design in the editor or to download free designs. Sign in with Google or an email code to use AI generation or to publish designs.

Can I edit a design from the gallery?

Yes. Open a design and choose to edit it; it opens in the editor on the matching template.

Is this an official Tesla product?

No. Tesla Wrap Designer is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.

AI generation and credits

How many credits does AI generation use?

A generation from a text prompt costs 10 credits, a generation from a reference photo costs 20 credits, and a license plate background costs 5 credits. Each regeneration costs the same again.

Am I charged if a generation fails?

No. Credits are deducted only after an image is created. If the generation fails or the safety filter blocks the prompt, no credits are used.

Privacy and your account

What happens to my prompts and images?

The editor runs in your browser. When you use AI generation, your prompt, the template and any reference image are sent to our AI service to create the image. The privacy policy has the details.

How do I delete my account?

Open your profile, choose Delete account and confirm with your email address. Your designs, projects and generated images are removed permanently, and any remaining credits are forfeited. Withdraw creator earnings first.
