Tesla Model 3 Wrap: Cost, Options and a Free 3D Preview

A Model 3 wrap means one of two things: vinyl or color PPF on the real car, or a digital Paint Shop wrap that recolors the 3D Model 3 on your touchscreen. This page gives the current prices with sources, the right template for each Model 3 generation, and the free way to preview a design before paying an installer.

Tesla Wrap Designer (tesla-wrap.design) is a free online Tesla wrap designer and gallery: it shows any Model 3 wrap on a 3D car, exports the Paint Shop PNG, and hosts free community designs for the original Model 3 and the 2024+ Highland.

The short answer

How much does a Model 3 wrap cost?

Prices are reported US figures from the sources listed below; a shop quote depends on the film, finish, how much is disassembled and local labor. The Model 3 is a mid-size sedan, so it sits near the middle of the general ranges.

Tesla’s own wrap program (Model 3 and Model Y, model year 2023+) launched in October 2023 as colored paint protection film at $7,500–$8,000 installed, dropped to $5,700–$6,000 in January 2024, switched to $4,000 vinyl in late 2024, and was removed from the Tesla Shop in August 2026 without an announcement. Third-party installers and DIY kits are the remaining options for a physical wrap.

Preview a Model 3 wrap in 3D before you pay for vinyl

Every physical wrap starts as a decision about color and placement. Settle it on a 3D Model 3 for free, then take the screenshots to the installer, or keep it as a Paint Shop wrap.

  1. 1

    Pick the Model 3 template

Choose the template for your exact car: Model 3 for 2017–2023 cars, Model 3 (2024+) Standard & Premium for the Highland, or Model 3 (2024+) Performance. A wrap made for the wrong template lines up wrong on the doors and bumpers.

  2. 2

    Download or design a wrap

Download a free Model 3 design from the gallery, or open the editor and paint, upload an image or describe a design for AI to generate. The editor shows the result on a 3D Model 3 while you work.

  3. 3

Check it on the 3D car

Rotate the 3D preview to check the hood, both sides and the rear. If you plan a vinyl wrap, screenshot the angles you want to show the installer.

  4. 4

Export the PNG and load it in Paint Shop

Export the 1024×1024 PNG (under 1 MB). Upload it in the Tesla App under Creations → Wrap → Upload, or copy it to a USB folder named Wraps, then apply it in Toybox → Paint Shop → Wraps. It changes the car on the screen only.

Which Model 3 template do you need?

The refreshed 2024+ Model 3 (Highland) has a new front and rear, and the 2024+ Performance has its own body kit, so Tesla publishes three Model 3 Paint Shop templates. All are 1024×1024 PNG.

Popular Model 3 wrap styles

From what Model 3 owners download on Tesla Wrap Designer: the Model 3 has the most designs of any Tesla, helped by its clean body lines.

  • Racing liveries

Door numbers, contrasting stripes and a dark base (navy, matte black, racing green) are the most downloaded style across Teslas.

  • Clean color changes

Matte black, satin grey and metallic blue are the most common “what would my white Model 3 look like” previews.

  • Anime and itasha

Full-body character art is biggest on the Model 3; the best ones follow the fender-to-door body line instead of sitting flat on a panel.

  • Two-tone and accents

Black roof, mirror caps and spoiler on a colored body, which is also the cheapest wrap to buy in vinyl.

Model 3 wrap questions

How much does it cost to wrap a Tesla Model 3?

A professional full color-change vinyl wrap on a sedan is reported at about $2,000–$6,000 in the US, with J.D. Power’s baseline around $3,000; chrome and color-shift films run $6,000–$8,000 and color PPF more. Tesla’s own $4,000 vinyl wrap was discontinued in August 2026. A Paint Shop digital wrap is free.

Do Highland wraps fit a 2017–2023 Model 3?

No. The 2024+ Model 3 Highland has a different front and rear, so its Paint Shop template, and any vinyl pattern, differs from the original Model 3. Use the template for your model year, and the Performance template for a 2024+ Performance.

Does a Paint Shop wrap change my Model 3’s real paint?

No. A Paint Shop wrap is a PNG that recolors the 3D Model 3 on the touchscreen and in the Tesla app. The paint and body are untouched, and you can switch back at any time.

Can I still buy a wrap from Tesla for my Model 3?

Not as of August 2026. Tesla removed the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck wrap products from its online shop; the last price was $4,000 for a vinyl wrap on the Model 3 and Model Y. Independent installers and DIY kits remain available.

Can I use the 3D preview to plan a real vinyl wrap?

Yes, as a visual mock-up. The Paint Shop PNG is a 1024×1024 screen texture, so a wrap shop will still produce its own print-ready files and measurements, but the preview settles colors, placement and proportions before you pay.

Is Tesla Wrap Designer free for Model 3 wraps?

Browsing, downloading free Model 3 designs, the editor and the 3D preview are free. AI generation uses credits, and some creator designs are marked premium.
